IELTS GG vs Speechful: An Honest 2026 Comparison to Help You Choose the Right IELTS Tool
Quick answer: GoPrep (formerly IELTS.GG) suits learners who want a large mock-test library, a daily plan, an iPhone app and a conditional score guarantee. Speechful suits learners who want an AI examiner that asks follow-up questions based on what they actually say, detailed feedback after every attempt, from phoneme-level Speaking reports to sentence-by-sentence Writing marking, Skill Booster exercises built from their own mistakes, and a free way to start. Both cover all four skills, and GoPrep advertises the larger mock library, while Speechful currently has 9 Reading tests and 9 Listening tests.
You found IELTS GG (now called GoPrep), you found Speechful, and now you have both tabs open. Which one will actually help you improve before test day?
Both platforms use AI to score Speaking and Writing against the official criteria, so on paper they look similar. They are built around different ideas of how improvement happens. GoPrep is built around volume: unlimited mock tests, a daily plan, and a guarantee that requires you to complete a lot of them. Speechful is built around a shorter loop. You answer one question or write one task, get detailed feedback on that attempt, fix it with Skill Booster exercises built from your mistakes, and try again before you sit a full test. Speechful offers full Reading and Listening practice tests too, each followed by a detailed review.
Disclosure: Speechful publishes this page and is one of the two products compared. GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) is not affiliated with Speechful. Claims about GoPrep come from its public website, guarantee terms and App Store listings, and from our own hands-on testing of its Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening tests. All were checked in September 2026. Claims about Speechful come from its own product and pricing pages. Features and prices change, so check both current pages before you pay.

What Is IELTS GG, and Why Is It Now Called GoPrep?
GoPrep (formerly IELTS.GG) is an AI IELTS preparation platform made by Aleem Labs. Its website at goprep.gg describes it as formerly ielts.gg. Many learners still search for the old name, IELTS GG, so you will see both names in this article.
GoPrep offers mock tests for all four skills, AI feedback on Writing and Speaking, a daily plan, a voice tutor called Preppy, flashcards and score predictions, on the web and in an iPhone app on the App Store. The company says it has more than 700,000 users and calls itself an official Registration Centre of IDP IELTS Kazakhstan.
What Is Speechful?
Speechful is an AI English and IELTS practice platform made by Edvent AI. For IELTS, it offers an IELTS Speaking AI grader, an IELTS Writing AI grader, an IELTS Reading practice test and an IELTS Listening practice test.
Around those sit Speechy, an AI tutor for grammar, vocabulary and scoring questions, and Skill Booster exercises built from the mistakes in your reports. A learning plan includes a 28-day IELTS Speaking study plan.
What Is the Main Difference Between IELTS GG and Speechful?
GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) is strongest as a volume platform. It advertises dozens of full mock tests per skill, 14 question types and a plan that adapts to your exam date, a larger library than Speechful’s 9 Reading tests and 9 Listening tests.
Speechful is strongest as a detailed-feedback platform. Every attempt comes back showing what went wrong and why, from phoneme-level pronunciation in Speaking to named mistake types in Listening, and Skill Booster exercises built from your mistakes show you how to fix them.

Which Is Better for IELTS Speaking?
The real Speaking test is a conversation, not a recording. According to the official IELTS Speaking format, Part 3 lasts four to five minutes and moves from your Part 2 topic to more general, abstract questions. It is a two-way discussion, so rehearsed answers help less. Our guide to performing at your best in IELTS Speaking Part 3 covers it in detail.
Speechful’s IELTS Speaking AI grader is built for that conversation. The AI examiner listens to your answer and asks follow-up questions based on what you actually said, so a memorised script won’t carry you through. Practice mode gives feedback after every question, and exam mode shows your full report after the test. The report scores all four official criteria and breaks pronunciation down to the phoneme and syllable, so you can see exactly which sounds to fix. Then Skill Booster exercises built from your own mistakes give you something specific to practise before your next attempt, and the 28-day IELTS Speaking study plan gives you a route to follow. If Speaking is the skill holding your overall band down, this loop of conversation, detailed report and targeted practice is what Speechful is built around.
GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) offers a three-part AI examiner (Interview, Cue Card and Discussion) and analyses fluency, pace, pauses and filler words, with a band breakdown. Try a session on both platforms and compare how specific the pronunciation feedback is and whether the follow-up questions respond to what you actually said. If the format is new to you, read what to expect in an IELTS Speaking test first.
Which Is Better for IELTS Writing?
Both platforms mark Writing on four criteria and return a band estimate. The difference is how specific the feedback gets.
GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) gives a band estimate, grammar corrections and vocabulary upgrades, with a built-in timer. Speechful marks your response sentence by sentence, so you can see which lines hold down Task Response or Coherence and Cohesion, not only where your grammar slipped, and Skill Booster exercises give you targeted practice. It covers Task 1 Academic, Task 1 General Training and Task 2 for both, with a live word count and timers of 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2. Our four-criteria framework for checking your IELTS essay shows how to use this kind of feedback.
How Do Reading and Listening Practice Compare?
Speechful offers Reading and Listening practice tests too. GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) advertises the bigger library, with dozens of full mock tests per skill. Speechful currently has 9 Reading tests and 9 Listening tests.
For Reading, Speechful offers a full computer-based Academic test: 40 questions across three passages in 60 minutes, with highlighting, notes and question navigation. You get an estimated band score and a timing report showing your time on each passage, question type and question, next to whether you got it right, so you see where marks and minutes were lost. Each answer shows the passage evidence behind it. General Training Reading is not available yet. GoPrep offers Academic passages, and its homepage mentions General Training too, so check which format you need. In our hands-on test, GoPrep’s Reading review also highlights the evidence sentence in the passage, and it keeps each answer locked until you try the question once more.
For Listening, Speechful offers a full 40-question test where the recording plays once. You get a raw score, an estimated band score and a transcript with explanations that point out a lost place, a changed answer, a spelling slip or a broken word limit, so every wrong answer has a named cause. The same practice applies to Academic and General Training. GoPrep offers full Listening sections with recorded audio. In our hands-on test, it lets you choose Strict mode, where the audio cannot be paused, as in the real exam, or Chill mode, where you can pause and rewind. Its review highlights the transcript line by line in sync with the audio, and “Why is this correct?” jumps the audio to the evidence, with the AI tutor available to explain.
Neither company’s tests are official papers. If running out of time in Reading or losing your place in Listening is your problem, Speechful’s reports are built around those two problems. If you want the largest library of full tests, GoPrep advertises more.
How Much Does Each Platform Cost?
GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) lists 1, 3 and 12 month plans on its website, and it runs discounts, so the price you pay may be lower than the listed price. Its iPhone app has monthly, quarterly and yearly plans, and prices vary by country. You can start free on GoPrep, but it does not publish the free limits.
Speechful lets you test for free before you pay. Its paid options are Plus Monthly and 3-month and 6-month passes. The passes are one-time payments with no auto-renewal, and they are non-refundable once bought. See the pricing page for current prices.
| Period | GoPrep (US App Store) | GoPrep (website, listed price) | Speechful |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $19.49 | $25.98 | $24.90 (Plus Monthly) |
| 3 months | $26.99 | $35.98 | $44.90 (pass) |
| 6 months | Not offered | Not offered | $69 (pass, limited-time offer) |
| 12 months | $74.99 | $99.98 | Not offered |
At listed prices, GoPrep’s 1-month plan costs slightly more than Speechful Plus Monthly, and its 3-month plan costs less than the Speechful pass. GoPrep also has a 12-month plan, which Speechful does not. GoPrep’s App Store subscriptions and Speechful Plus both renew until you cancel, while the Speechful passes do not. What Does the IELTS GG Score Guarantee Actually Cover?
The GoPrep (formerly IELTS GG) homepage promises that you will raise your score, or it will refund you and cover your retake. The detailed guarantee terms are narrower. They offer a full subscription refund if your Overall Band Score does not rise by at least 1.0, but only if you start from an official overall band of 6.5 or lower, keep a paid subscription for at least 90 days, complete a large set of mock tests and AI-marked Writing and Speaking tasks inside GoPrep, and retake the official exam within 60 days of your subscription ending.
The refund covers the subscription cost only, not exam fees, which differs from the homepage wording about covering a retake. Read the current terms if the guarantee matters to your decision.
Speechful does not offer a score guarantee. We do not think any platform can promise a band score, because your result depends on how you practise and what you do with the feedback.
Which Platform Should You Choose?

Try the Practice Loop Yourself
The best way to choose is to try both. Start with Speechful’s IELTS Speaking AI grader, which is free to start, asks follow-up questions based on what you say, and shows you exactly what to fix before your next attempt.
Does Speechful cover all four IELTS skills?
Yes. Speechful offers an IELTS Speaking AI grader, an IELTS Writing AI grader and full practice tests for Reading and Listening, all in one account. Each ends with a detailed report. Reading is Academic only for now, while Listening is the same for Academic and General Training. You can try the IELTS Reading practice test and the IELTS Listening practice test when you start for free.
Does IELTS GG cover Reading and Listening?
Yes. IELTS GG offers Academic Reading passages in exam format and full Listening sections with recorded audio, and advertises dozens of full mock tests per skill. In our hands-on test, answers are reviewed with an AI tutor, Preppy, which highlights the evidence in the passage or in a transcript that follows the audio. Listening offers a Strict mode with no pausing and a Chill mode with pause and rewind.
What does the IELTS GG score guarantee require?
The IELTS GG score guarantee requires an official starting score of 6.5 or lower, a paid subscription of at least 90 days, 12 mock exams in each section, and 30 Writing tasks and 30 Speaking sessions. You must also retake IELTS within 60 days of the subscription ending. The refund covers the subscription cost only, according to the guarantee terms.
Can I use IELTS GG and Speechful together?
Yes. Both run in a browser, so you can use them side by side, for example Speechful for detailed daily Speaking and Writing feedback and a larger mock library for full tests. One limit: the IELTS GG guarantee only counts mock tests taken inside its own system. You can start with Speechful’s IELTS Speaking AI grader for free.
